PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
Topic: UNREASONABLE SERVICE
Text: Acts 10:1-48 KJV
2 A devout man, and one that feared God
with all his house, which gave much alms to
the people, and prayed to God always.
3 He saw in a vision evidently about the
ninth hour of the day an angel of God
coming in to him, and saying unto him,
4 And when he looked on him, he was
afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he
said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms
are come up for a memorial before God.
5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for
one Simon, whose surname is Peter
An unreasonable service is a service without reward, unprofitable and most likely amount to nothing. It might be a quality or sacrificial service but will eventually end without reward in heaven.
The story in our text today was a bout a man named Cornelius, he was a devout man and he feared God with all his
household (good character), he also gave much alms and prayed to God always(quality service), but he was not saved and had not confessed Jesus as Lord and Saviour. God knew that if cornelius died that way without genuine salvation, he will not make heaven and all his quality services will amount to nothing. So God spoke to Cornelius in a vision to send for Simon Peter
who would lead Cornelius and his entire household to genuine salvation.
Beloved the lesson to learn here is that without genuine salvation, quality and sacrificial services to God in the church or through any other avenue may be such with no reward in heaven. No wonder Jesus said in Matt 7:21-22 “Not every one that said
unto me Lord Lord shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven…… And then will profess unto them, I never knew you depart from me ye that work iniquity.
The conclusion of this matter is that you need to render your whole self to God first (genuine salvation) before you render your service to Him. God bless you.
1. if you are not saved, repent from your
sins, confess jesus christ as your Lord and Saviour.
2. Father, i will not render an unreasonable
service unto you any longer in Jesus Name.
